Sol_ID is Team HelioMet’s project for SDLAC 2015. The challenges is to find solutions for the future of sustainable social housing for tropical climates. Since human population is increasing, cities are expanding and the consequences of global warming are evident to all of us, we have taken the following approach:

  • 21st century ideas
  • No Compromises
  • Innovation in Design
  • Innovation in Materials

We are building the rooftop unit as a prototype of our large scale solution. Our new typology can adapt to the varied social housing models within the urban context in tropical climates both locally and globally. This will challenge the utilitarian form of the concrete tower block and look to create an architecture that is both stimulating and contextually relevant for the challenges of the 21st century.

We strongly believe that cost efficient bio-materials, flexible and adaptable designs and simple assembly techniques are the future of sustainable design. With the support of our collaborative partners we are creating, inventing and applying cutting edge research on biomaterials to a social relevant problem. Not only will this allow us to create a zero carbon solution and prototype for SDLAC2015, it will provide significant support in the global development of self-sufficient housing for the industry and society.

Due to the nature of the competition, our design remains confidential. Please contact us for further information, follow us or look through our photo galleries.
